SoCal Takes Center Stage For BOA
Be sure to check out the 2018 BOA Southern California regional championship this weekend on FloMarching.
The West Coast gets another opportunity to shine as the final BOA event in California for 2018 gets started Saturday morning. The BOA Southern California Regional begins at 8:45 AM PT and will play host to 20 bands competing for the SoCal championship.
The 2018 BOA Utah champion Ayala will head to Van Nuys with the chance to win a 2nd BOA title this season. They were able to hold off the field in St. George last weekend with an 89.050.

A Deeper Look Into Ayala’s Inevitable
Their 2018 production, “Inevitable,” sets the tone with a fast-paced solo, while large props disguise the band and a majority of the color guard. Guard members are slowly revealed, as the props glide across the field and change color. The opener solo continues, and suddenly, the entire band appears on the field in a stunning visual display with their bright white uniforms against the green turf. The first of one of the large central props is opened, almost like a large flower or egg, revealing yet another guard member inside.
While last year’s SoCal champion Carmel did not make the long journey out West, bronze medalist Vista Murrieta (CA) will certainly play a factor in how things shake out in California this year.
San Marcos (CA) finished 4th in 2017 looks to continue to build on their strong showing at the Utah Regional. San Marcos will look to improve on their bronze medal placement and will certainly have added a few more wrinkles to their show, Ritual.
The 2017 Class 3A champion Arroyo (CA) will be returning for an opportunity to defend their class championship. Arroyo will be presenting their program ENIGMA: World of Wonder. It should be very intriguing what Key Poulan can do with Sir Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations as an arrangement.
