Avon Lake, Ohio, USA. "Stay in the Light" is a found footage horror film about a winter percussion ensemble who disappeared while rehearsing their show "The Joy of Light". The middle of their run through is interrupted by a power outage in which chaos ensues. The drumline members and staff find out that they are not alone in the darkened gym and anyone who fails to stay in the light is taken away by a creature that lurks in the shadows. The Avon Lake Winter Percussion Ensemble was founded in 2018 and is directed by John Max McFarland. The ensemble received the gold medal in scholastic concert A class at OIPA Championships in 2018.
