As of June 1st, Blue Knights have announced that their 2022 program title is 'Vibe.'

I was scrolling through Instagram Monday night before heading to bed when I saw that the Blue Knights had dropped their 2022 show repertoire, paired with the caption "4 days... #BK2022." I didn't think too much about the announcement itself at the time, but the more I looked at the graphic, I noticed something familiar. But first, let's talk about the music:

The repertoire includes:

  • Neglected Space by Imogen Heap
  • Wailers by Bobby McFerrin
  • Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
  • She by Laura Mvula
  • Locked Out Of Heaven by Bruno Mars

I gotta say that this list of tunes is quite the mix, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how BK puts them all together in a cohesive way. The Denver-based corps is no stranger to blending unexpected genres and artists into a fantastic drum corps show, effortlessly fusing music from Ólafur Arnalds, Jay Bocook and Trent Reznor in their 2019 production titled, "...I Remember Everything,"

Turning our focus back to the repertoire announcement graphic, fans were quick to pick up on the fact that a few letters are in yellow instead of white. Taking a look at what those letters are: E, E, I, B, V, V - seems pretty inconsequential, right?

That's what I thought until I recalled my video interview with Daniel Belcher, who's the Executive Director of Blue Knights a few months back. When I asked him if he could give the Flo audience a hint as to what the 2022 show is about, all he said was "It's a vibe."

And now, when looking at the highlighted letters in the graphic, they spell out "VVIBEE." That's got to be more than an easter egg left for us, right? It's all speculation for now, but if their Instagram caption is any indication, we should expect more show information in the coming days.
