In true Bloo fashion, the details of their 2019 production are FINALLY here. Presenting their 2019 production, "The Bluecoats."
Drum Corps International released the show title and information about the 2019 show in an interview between Dan Potter and Program Coordinator Dean Westman on the same night as the Tour Premiere. The video dropped at 5 PM ET, the same time that five of the other corps performing in tonight's premiere wrap up their ensemble block and get fed before loading up on the busses and trucks to arrive at Ford Field.
"The title is simply just a nod to their eponymous 1968 album, 'The White Album,'" explains Westman. He goes on to describe that the show will recognize the impact that The Beatles has had upon the music world including bringing color through their tonality and style to music that was previously "monophonic."
The interview finishes with a discussion about WHY the Bluecoats always hold back their show information. Westman explains that the corps holds back their information so that they can silo themselves with the production without any expectations from the outside world. He goes on to describe that music selections play a huge part in their delay as well, should they feel the need to change their music selections late in the process.
The corps also unveiled the show on their own website filled with drafts of their uniforms, a full setlist, and an explanation of the inspiration for their 2019 program.
