Carolina Crown 2019 Show Music & Title Released

Carolina Crown officially released their show repertoire and the name of their 2019 production, making them the eighth finalist drum corps to do so. In the top 5, the Blue Devils, Carolina Crown, and Boston Crusaders have given out info on their shows, while Santa Clara Vanguard and the Bluecoats are holding back until the competitive season gets closer.

Carolina Crown's show design of recent years has taken a single concept that is relatively abstract and plays on that concept however many ways they can. It will be interesting to watch how "Beneath the Surface" is taken above the turf to audiences across the country—and judges.

The corps' music selections for 2019 vary from traditional Bulgarian music to "Gabriel's Oboe." There's also something very primal and dramatic about the sound of "Temen Oblak" that must also be tied in coherently with the concept. The full list is below:

  • "Temen Oblak (from Dark Clouds)" by Christopher Tin
  • "Frolic (from Rabbit and Rogue)" by Danny Elfman
  • "Gabriel's Oboe (from The Mission)" by Ennio Morricone
  • "Bucimis (traditional folk music)" by The Swingles feat. Trichy Sankaran
