An investigation by "Philadelphia Inquirer" into misconduct between instructors and participants in youth organizations of the marching arts was released today.
Staff writer, Tricia Nadolny, has had her eyes on the marching arts since the removal of George Hopkins as Executive Director and CEO of The Cadets' parent organization, Youth Education in the Arts, or YEA!
Her newest article recounts the stories of female victims that were participants in the activity, preyed upon by their mentors and instructors. It is a long read, but a necessary one.
Youth drum corps have been a haven for instructors with sexual misconduct in their pasts. My latest investigation: https://t.co/XApYZiy1FI— Tricia L. Nadolny (@TriciaNadolny) December 13, 2018
The story comes days after Drum Corps International released a statement that defined their relationship with the participating corps that perform in DCI competitions across the country. You can see their full statement here.
