WGI Announces 2019 Color Guard Class Promotions

CGT Denton Wins Silver In First Season

Today, Winter Guard International (WGI) announced the groups that have attained promotions by merit for the 2019 season. 13 groups have been promoted from A to Open while six have gone from Open to WGI's coveted World Class.

A number of the groups that have been promoted now are presented with the possibility of having multiple groups in the same class—so it will be interesting to see what those organizations choose to do moving forward.

For example, UCF Pegasus is very proud of their four guards which included one in each World, Open, and A Classes, plus a Cadet guard that competes in Florida. Because of the A and Open Class groups' success in 2018, UCF Pegasus may now have two competing guards in World, one in Open, and none in A for 2019.

Regardless, a promotion is a huge accomplishment for every group that will be competing in a new class in 2019. So, congratulations!

Andy's Top 5 BOA Shows Heading To Grand Nats

To say that the 2018 Bands of America season has been impressive is probably the understatement of the year. I always expect the top drum and bugle corps of the world to come out with something groundbreaking by way of marching arts show design, but this year's BOA season has topped even DCI for me.
