The marching arts community is reeling following the loss of another young performer. Sixteen-year-old Hailey Cartwright died Monday night after collapsing during color guard rehearsal at her high school in Crowley, Texas.

A nurse who was attending the band function at Crowley High School began CPR and used a defibrillator on Cartwright, a sophomore, until paramedics arrived. She was rushed to Burleson Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m. The cause of death is not known at this time.

"Crowley ISD is incredibly saddened by this tragedy and the loss of this beautiful, young life," Interim Superintendent Patricia Linares said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Hailey's family, friends, and the Crowley ISD staff during this difficult time."

From everyone at FloMarching, our thoughts and prayers are with Hailey's family. Hailey's aunt has set up a GoFundMe page to help support the family.
