On Tuesday night, the 12 final corps left standing in the Open division took to Ames Field in Michigan City, Indiana to compete for DCI's Open Class championship.

Heading into finals the Blue Devils B from Concord, CA. and the reigning DCI Open Champions Vanguard Cadets from Santa Clara, CA. were the odds on favorites to win. The two corps did not disappoint.

The Blue Devils B were able to capture the title with a score of 79.900 Performing their show entitled "To the Moon", the corps was not only able to win the night but also sweep all the captions. The awards for Best GE, Brass, Colorguard, Visual, and Percussion were all awarded to the Blue Devils B.

Even though they fell short of BDB, the Vanguard Cadets earned the silver medal with a final score of 78.850. Along with their championship in 2015, the corps finished 2nd in 2014.

Finishing in the highest position in the history of the corps' existence, the Legends from Kalamazoo, MI took home the bronze medal with a score of 76.500.

Legends were able to narrowly beat out two other corps competing for that 3rd place finish. Heading into finals, previous medalists Genesis from Austin, Tx and long-time Open Class powerhouse, Spartans from Nashua, NH., were all within 1.4375 points of each other.

Genesis finished 4th with a score of 75.250 and Spartans rounded out the top 5 with a score of 74.750. Spartans corps director Richard Rigolini also earned the Open Class Director of the Year award.

Finishing in 6th was the corps from Nashville, TN., Music City. They finished the season with a score of 72.150. In 7th with a score of 70.875 was 7th Regiment. Gold came in 8th with a score of 68.600.

Making the Open Class finals for the first time in corps history, the Louisiana Stars finished 8th by posting a score of 67.300. The corps was also voted as the Most Improved by their peers in the Open Class Division.

Rounding out the top 10 were the Raiders from Burlington, NJ., with a final score 66.825. Making the trip to Open Class Championships for the first time, the Guardians from Houston, TX., not only made the trip but also made finals for the first time and posted a 64.450 for their Open Class Finals debut. Coming in 12th was River City Rhythm with a score of 63.600.
