After two nights of competitions the Finals are set, and we are in store for a historic night.
Friday night marked the end of one historic corps streak and perhaps the beginning of another. And it set the stage for one hell of a fight at the top for the DCI 2016 World Championship.
Once again, the Bluecoats were able to hold off previous champions Blue Devils and Carolina Crown. Electrifying the audience with yet another amazing performance, the Bluecoats were able to push their score just slightly higher with a 97.263.
They needed every bit of that .038 increase because both the Blue Devils and Carolina Crown closed the gap behind the Bluecoats. The Blue Devils came in with a 96.988 and Crown popped a 96.925!
With only .063 separating BD and Crown, it's virtually a toss up as to who is going to take 2nd if the Bluecoats manage to stay on top.
Santa Clara Vanguard improved their score from last night but still remain in 4th with a 94.888.
One of the big moves of the night was The Cavaliers surpassing The Cadets for 5th. The Cavies propaganda machine posted a 93.775, up .562 points from last night. Coupled with The Cadets dropping to 93.225, are The Cavaliers are poised to end The Cadets streak of top 5 finishes?
Even though the Blue Knights had the largest increase in their point total (.700), they are still sitting 7th with a 91.625. The Phantom Regiment are on the cusp of breaking 90 with a score of 89.763.
The Blue Stars and Crossmen stay in their same positions with scores of 89.475 and 87.650, respectively.
And the crowd favorite, The Academy, broke through the finals wall for the first time in corps history. The corps posted a 87.225 which was good enough to maintain their hold on the 11th spot and advance to the finals.

The big upset of the night came at the expense of former DCI World Champion Madison Scouts. The Boston Crusaders managed to improve their score by .625 to a 85.525 and leap past the Scouts for the last spot in finals.
This move continued Boston's streak of making finals which began in 1999. It also marked only the 4th time since 1972 that the Madison Scouts did not make Finals.
There were 12 other corps including the Scouts whose seasons came to an end tonight. The Troopers finished in 14th with score of 83.275. The Open Class Champions, Blue Devils B will not compete tomorrow as they posted a 82.325. They will however, perform prior to Finals in exhibition.
The Colts (81.513), Mandarins (81.200), Oregon Crusaders (79.725), Pacific Crest (78.875), Vanguard Cadets (78.000), Spirit of Atlanta (76.675), and Cascades (75.150) all maintained their positions from prelims.
The only other movement were Genesis overtaking Legends for 23rd. Genesis finished with a 73.375 and Legends finished their season with a 73.150. The Spartans scored a 71.475 for 25th.
