It was a beautiful night at Hilmer Lodge Stadium for the 2026 edition of Western Corps Connection. The event featured a star-studded lineup of five Open Class corps and six World Class corps and they were all on the top of their game.
The stands were packed and the crowd gave it up for each corps, but none like the Bluecoats, who are wrapping up just their second tour in California on this side of the millennia.
Although Blue Devils B opened the schedule, they also took the top spot in Open Class with a 69.300, continuing their trend so far this season. It was a great showing for Golden Empire, Blue Devils C, and Impulse who are wrapping up their season on Sunday at the So Cal Classic so be sure to tune in to watch live on FloMarching.
More competitive intrigue came at the end of the night, when the Bluecoats, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Blue Devils took the same field for the second night in a row out of three.
Just one point separated the Bluecoats and Blue Devils in Santa Clarita—that gap was opened wide to 1.500 on Friday in Walnut, CA. The gap from Blue Devils to Santa Clara Vanguard opened slightly from 1.300 to 1.550.
The recaps showed a sweep across first-second-third for the top three except for one caption, percussion, which Vanguard took second in, 0.20 over Concord.

The gap opened up between The Academy with a 73.300 and Pacific Crest who scored a 74.100.
