Vandegrift HS Equipment Trailer Hit by Train En Route to San Antonio
While heading to San Antonio for UIL 6A State Competition, a Vandegrift HS marching band equipment trailer was struck by a train

On Monday afternoon, the unthinkable happened to the Vandegrift High School Marching Band and Vision Dance Company.
While heading to San Antonio for UIL 6A State Competition, a Vandegrift HS marching band equipment trailer was struck by a train. According to information released by the program and various news outlets, no injuries were recorded, and the driver and passenger of the trailer were able to exit the cab safely before the trailer was hit by the train.
Here's what Fox 7 Austin gathered about the accident:
No students were present or witnessed the incident as they were already at the Alamodome at the time of the crash. Principal Little also stated that this route would not have been part of the bus route taken by the student buses.
Principal Little says that although it was a catastrophic impact, the main damage was to the tractor cab and the bulk of the instruments remain intact.
Originally, Vandegrift HS was slated to perform just after 4pm, but their performance time slot was moved to accommodate additional time needed to gather borrowed instruments and equipment.
In true fashion for the Marching community, an outpouring of support has come from every corner of the activity, with many fans and fellow programs showing their support for Vandegrift on a recent post made by the Viper Band.

In addition to UIL, Vandegrift HS is slated to take the field this weekend at the 2025 BOA San Antonio Super Regional, held in the Alamodome.
We're sending all of our best wishes to the Vandegrift HS Marching Band and Vision Dance Company in this difficult time.
