The matchup the college wrestling world has been waiting for since November is moving closer to a reality.

Defending NCAA wrestling champion and world champion Vito Arujau, who was stunned by Ryan Crookham at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in November, will go head-to head in a Finals rematch at the EIWA Championships.

Arujau, the No. 2 seed in the 133-pound weight class, advanced to the semifinals on Friday as No. 1 seed and No.1 ranked wrestler in the class Crookham. 

Arujau will face Army’s  sixth-seed Braden Basile who upset No. 3 seed Michael Colaiocco of Army. Crookham will face Kurt Phipps, the No. 4 seed. 

In the November tournament, Crookham beat Arijau 8-4. In doing so, the freshman also beat the defending world champion in the weight class.
