Dan Acheson - Long-time CEO of DCI - Slated to Retire at the End of 2023

Dan Acheson, who has been at the helm of Drum Corps International for nearly 30 years, has announced he will retire at the end of 2023.

Serving as the CEO and Executive Director of DCI since 1995, Acheson has been the guiding hand behind the exponential growth the activity has seen in recent years. Throughout his tenure with DCI, Acheson has been awarded many accolades, including being named a Lowell Mason Fellow, receiving the DCI Hall of Fame President's Award, and being inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame in 2008.

Here is how Acheson reflects upon his time at the helm of DCI:

“I am extremely proud of all that we have accomplished, along with each of the participating corps who have contributed to this rich legacy, and for the opportunities we’ve had the good fortune to provide to hundreds of thousands of remarkable young people who have chosen to take part. I am pleased to retire with DCI as a strong, vibrant organization that is ready for a wonderful next chapter which is waiting to be written.” - Dan Acheson, DCI.org

According to Drum Corps International, the search for a new CEO is underway and the organization is hoping to have the position filled early this spring, allowing for a smooth transition throughout 2023 and into 2024.
