Bluecoats brought the momentum they built from the DCI Tour Premier to Akron and continued their hot start. With a score of 71.600, they were able to widen the gap just a little from Carolina Crown who finished with a 70.600. 

Bluecoats were able to build this lead based on their GE and Visual scores. In GE, Bluecoats were .900 ahead of Crown. Then in the visual caption, Bluecoats had .200 edge. Crown was able to make up some ground in the music caption by winning percussion and brass.

The Cadets debuted new uniforms and their show with a 66.900 finishing 2.200 ahead of Phantom Regiment (65.700). The Crossmen and Genesis finished 5th and 6th with scores of 63.850 and 55.450 respectively.
