Preview: DCI Southwestern Championship

The kickoff to the regional season will be coming LIVE from San Antonio, Texas on FloMarching this weekend, starting at 1:30 PM CT. As our first dome show of the season, the DCI Southwestern Championship is here to finally put every corps head-to-head for the first time this season under one arena's roof. Performing under a dome creates more than one challenge for performers. Just remember to listen back and watch the hands.

After some score shake-ups during a full Texas Tour schedule this week, here’s a few matchups to keep an eye on:

Sound Sport Wrap-Up

While we’re midway through the regular DCI season for Open and World Class corps, two Sound Sport corps will conclude their seasons on Saturday: Compass and Arsenal. Tune in at 1:40 PM to check out the final performances of both corps.

Crossmen/Mandarins

At Drums Across Kansas we saw the Mandarins overtake the Crossmen by 0.5 for the first time. Previously the two corps went head to head in Sioux City, IA with the Crossmen taking a 1.6 point lead. With the Mandarins hoping to continue the momentum after their history-making 2018 season, there’s no doubt that they won’t be letting off the gas anytime soon. Who knows what the Crossmen may have up their sleeve. Catch both corps back to back with the Crossmen at 5:51 PM and the Mandarins at 6:08 PM CT.

Bluecoats / Blue Devils / Santa Clara Vanguard

Coming into the first regional of the year, everyone’s eyes are on DCI’s current reigning top 3, all of which are poised to be front runners going into Saturday night. The Southwestern Championship will be the third show this week for the three corps and with several rehearsal days in the mix, no doubt there will be major changes in the mix. Last night in Broken Arrow, OK, the top corps came together for the first time this season and we saw our first look at how the cards may fall at this weekend's regional.
