Preview: 2019 DCI Memphis

DCI Memphis starts off at 5:30 PM on Saturday, July 13 at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Although there are only 7 corps in competition, DCI Memphis could have some of the most interesting results of the night compared to the other two shows that will be on FloMarching—TOC-Northern Illinois and Drums Along the Rockies.

Here are some important things to look out for when watching this weekend on FloMarching!

Guardians

This will be the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps' first time on FloMarching this 2019 season. The corps is known for taking popular music and mixing it with traditional drum corps music. This year, they will be referencing Justin Timberlake and The Beatles with their show "Unpeeled."

Top Of The Pack

Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, and Santa Clara Vanguard will all be in Memphis performing the newest versions of their 2019 productions on Saturday. Boston Crusaders and Carolina Crown have recently been very close to each other in score, but almost never in the same location. They were together on July 5 in Lexington, SC, during which Boston came out on top—but, the next night in Orlando was canceled due to rain. Memphis will be one more chance to see those two corps shuffle in a spot that could end up with a medal by the end of the season.

Add in SCV to that madness and you get some good competition in there. For the first time since the 2018 DCI World Championships, Carolina Crown, Boston Crusaders, and Santa Clara Vanguard will be competing in one place to see who might pull the highest number—my guess is that we'll see some high numbers (87-88) in Memphis.
