Take a sip of your sweet tea, grab a bag of peaches, and put on your Daisy Dukes, because WGI is going down to Georgia this Saturday for the Atlanta Regional.

With over 40 groups in attendance representing both winds and percussion, it will be a very long day.

The regional kicks off this Saturday with winds prelims starting at 8:00 AM ET, and percussion prelims beginning at 9:30 AM ET. Winds finals will start at 4:30 PM ET followed by percussion finals at 6:00 PM ET.

Returning Veterans

Many scholastic groups are looking to take these last few weeks of the season to refine their show for judges and audiences—with this being one of the last major shows, it is one of their only remaining chances to make adjustments to their productions.

One group in Scholastic A, Gaffney HS (9:57 AM ET) is looking to make some noise and secure a finals placement after missing finals but a few points at WGI Spartanburg last week. Dorman HS (11:49 AM ET) will be looking to maintain their gold medal after winning last season’s Atlanta Regional with a score of 83.45 in Scholastic A.

Eyes are on Sparkman HS (1:30 PM EST) as well to see how they fare this year after winning the Atlanta Regional in PSO last year with a score of 84, not to mention placing fourth at WGI finals with a score of 94.25.

Independent Groups Start Final Push To Dayton

The wow-factor for the Independent Open and World class shows is expected to be extremely high.

Groups like Alchemy Independent Percussion (2:20 PM ET) hopes to win over fans with their production “The Other Side” and take first in Open after getting the silver medal with a score of 77.85 at the regional in 2018.

World class groups Atlanta Quest and Equinox will go head to head for the gold in their class. Atlanta Quest will perform their 2019 production “Lay Your Burdens Down” using the songs of Chris Cornell to tell an emotionally unique story, but competition will be stiff against Equinox who will be looking to improve off of their semifinals run in 2018.
