Leave it to one of the best regional finals line-ups of the season to be cancelled due to weather. As Wakeland took the field to kick off finals competition, lightning strikes could be seen in the distance to the South of the stadium. They finally got their show started as the wind picked up and just a few minutes later, an announcement cut the performance mid-run to clear the stadium.

As always, the BOA Dallas/Ft. Worth Regional was filled with bands that are used to seeing super regional finals in San Antonio and even Grand National Finals up in Indianapolis.

Due to the fact that there were no finals and no scores are announced during prelim awards (only placements & finalists), here are the top 10 scores from prelims that decided the evening's finalists.

1Flower Mound (TX)86.950
2Hebron (TX)86.450
3Keller (TX)85.500
4Cedar Park (TX)84.400
5L.D. Bell (TX)82.400
6Timber Creek (TX)82.000
7Union (TX)80.900
8Waxahachie (TX)80.900
9Prosper (TX)80.850
10Wakeland (TX)79.550

Pretty tight at the bottom of the potential finalists, between 7-9th in particular. Union (OK) came down to take their shot at Texas and came out pretty solidly in prelims, tying with Waxahachie for 7th. Prosper came out behind the two with a score of 80.850, only .05 back.

Hebron Wins Music

Looking at the recaps, Hebron still holds strong in the music caption for the DFW-area bands. The group scored an 18.30 in music ensemble—Waxahachie was the next closest score in this caption with a 17.60. Flower Mound's individual music performance score kept them in second (tied with Keller) for the music performance average with a 17.15—whereas Hebron has a 17.95.

Flower Mound's Visual Puts Them In First

With one of the most memorable shows of the day, Flower Mound won visual in Bedford with a 17.80 average. Over a half point higher than second place, the FloMo continues to push the envelope in visual design as well as overall show design.

Timber Creek Continues Success

Timber Creek has had our attention since winning their first ever Bands of America regional out in Midland, TX earlier this season. The band made regional finals for the first time ever last year and has continued their momentum straight into this season. Darla McBryde, the group's head director explains her strategy in an interview with us after their prelims run.
