On Saturday, the 2018 version of the West Texas Regional will be one of three Bands of America regionals that kicks off the fall marching season.

Beginning at 10:30 AM CT, the West Texas Regional will feature 19 bands from Texas and New Mexico. With the defending champion Claudia Taylor Johnson in south Texas at the McAllen Regional, a new band will be crowned the winner.

At 11:00 AM CT, Pecos will take the field in prelims and will look to recapture the Class A championship. Listen for them to unveil Remix. The show will feature music from Beethoven’s Symphony no. 5 and no. 7 along with “Ode to Joy” from Symphony no. 9.

The bronze medalist from 2017, Timber Creek returns with their sights set on having a great first show at 12:45 PM CT. Timber Creek will be performing selections from composers Johann Johannsson, Aaron Copland, Michael Torke, and John Thor Birgisson.

Timber Creek will have quite the BOA tour this fall with 3 competitions in Texas. They will also be at the Dallas-Ft. Worth competition on Oct. 6 and the San Antonio Super Regional on Nov. 2-3.

In the Class 2A division watch out for Lubbock-Cooper. They finished 2nd in AA last year behind Plainview, but with Plainview not in attendance Lubbock-Cooper should have a strong showing in 2A. Lubbock-Cooper’s show is called Recess and will feature the William Tell Overture and original music by Aaron Guidry.

At 3:15 PM CT, Coppell will take the field in their prelims performance. The Dallas-Ft. Worth area band will be featuring one of the most talented design teams. Michael Shapiro, Jay Bocook, Michael Gaines, Doug Bush, Patricia Islas, and Matthew Rummel have teamed up to design Coppell’s 2018 program, The Other Side. The show will feature works from Bach, Mozart, and Rachmaninoff.

Prelims will wrap up at 4:45 PM CT with prelim awards and then the 10 finalist bands will be announced. Finals will get started at 7:45 PM CT.
