From top to bottom, the 2018 season has been one to remember with all of the crazy things that have happened so far.

Corps have made jumps we've never seen before, they're breaking records left and right, beating corps they've never beat, and one California corps is primed to make it into DCI World Championship finals for the first time ever.

All of the World Class corps have performed and gotten a score since August 5. Remember that the corps are being scored by different judge panels, in different locations—things can change easily when everyone gets under the same roof in front of the same panel.

If you haven't tuned in all season, here are some quick points to keep track of this weekend:

  • Vanguard, obviously, holding down first place nearly all season
  • Boston Crusaders and The Cavaliers going back in forth for 5th, right on Carolina Crown's tail
  • The full-on toss up happening between 8-11th place (Phantom, Blue Stars, Blue Knights, and Mandarins)
  • Spirit of Atlanta and The Academy right on the verge of knocking Crossmen out of the top 12

Open Class Conundrum

Tonight, the top 12 corps from DCI's Open Class will compete in the 2018 DCI Open Class World Championships. The results from tonight will hint at what could be coming from Open Class in Thursday's prelims for the overall DCI World Championships.

Many of the groups towards the top of the pack tend to fit in nicely in the middle of the World Class groups in Indy. Last year, for example, Open Class Champions Vanguard Cadets placed 16th overall, above 5 World Class corps. The Open Class runner-up, Blue Devils B, finished in 19th with an 80.050.
