Open Class Champs Kick Off DCI Finals Week Today

Are Your Socks Even Ready?

The final week of the 2018 DCI season has come much too fast, but things kick off right away today with Open Class Champs!

In the quaint, small town of Michigan City, IN, Open Class corps will compete in the 2018 DCI Open Class World Championship prelims on Monday, August 6. The top 12 will move onto Open Class finals to make their mark on DCI's lower division of the marching arts!

Things pick up right at Ames Field right at 4:00 PM CT with the welcome and national anthem. The 12 highest scores will move on to Tuesday night, August 7, starting at 6:00 PM CT with the national anthem!

We will update and announce the schedule as soon as it's released by Drum Corps International this weekend following the Eastern Classic in Allentown.

With last year's top two locking down the top two spots once again, the battle to win Open Class comes down to Vanguard Cadets and Blue Devils B. In 3rd-4th, Spartans and Legends have been trading back and forth this season for that medalist spot going into Open Class Champs.

In 2017, Southwind made its return to DCI World Championships for the first time in a decade. This year, it's looking like they will make Open Class finals once again after an even stronger season as they get even more comfortable in the competitive arena.

Keep an eye on the top half of finalist Open Class corps. These corps will be right in the mix later in the week, once they get to the DCI World Championship prelims in Lucas Oil Stadium with World Class.

Schedule & Scores For 2019 DCI World Championship Finals

Prelims featured 36 corps and after 13 hours of performances, the numbers were narrowed to 25. A select few Open Class corps moved on with the entire contingent of DCI's World Class corps to perform in Friday's World Championship Semifinals. Seattle Cascades were the last corps in, while Louisiana Stars just barely missed the cut-off, ending what was a fantastic season for the 7-year old drum corps.
