Weekly Watch Guide (March 24-25): Power Regional Weekend #2

We've got five more Power Regionals coming your way, and this time we'll be streaming from 8 locations! The second of two competition-filled weekends in WGI Guard, Percussion, and Winds is set to stun with lineups that are gonna be pushing for their best performances to prepare for World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.

Guard will be competing in the Mid-East Power Regional, Southeast Power Regional, and the West Power Regional. If you're looking for Percussion and Winds, you'll want to tune in to the West Power Regional and the Mid-East Power Regional.

This is the last weekend of competition we'll be streaming until World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, so you're not going to want to miss it — this is where groups will be leaving it all on the floor in preparation for a big finish.

2018 WGI Guard Mid-East Power Regional — Cincinnati, OH & Alexandria, KY

The second weekend of WGI power regionals gets kicked off at 9 AM EST on Saturday, March 24th. The 2018 WGI Guard Mid-East Power Regional will host 41 guards at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University and the Scholastic A-class will have their prelims at Campbell County High School.

With groups from every class, including the defending World Champions Carmel (Scholastic World) and Pride of Cincinnati (Independent World) performing, it should make for an absolutely crazy weekend.

2018 WGI Southeast Power Regional — Orlando, FL

Prelims begin at 9:30 AM EST, Saturday, March 24th, and the lineup couldn't be bigger. Tons of Florida groups will be represented in this Power Regional, especially in the Scholastic A class. We'll see 4 rounds of Scholastic A prelims, with heavy-hitters like FIU Winterguard, Tarpon Springs, Flanagan H.S., Black Gold and UCF Pegasus World. Stoneman Douglas, who placed fifth at World Championships in 2017, is also listed as an entrant. 2018 also marks the first year we'll see STRYKE Winterguard!

2018 WGI West Power Regional — San Diego, CA

The West Power Regional's lineup consists of 77 groups in competition with Scholastic A carrying their own location for prelims. SA prelims kick off at 10 AM PT at Mira Mesa H.S. with prelims for all other classes starting at 10 AM PT at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Our lineup centers around California talent with a few groups from Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Canada. You won't want to miss performances from Arcadia H.S., Ayala H.S. Diamante, Fantasia, Imbue, and Malachi Independent, to name a few.

2018 WGI Percussion/Winds Mid-East Power Regional — Highland Heights, KY

This may be one of the most intense weekends for percussion that we've seen yet. 37 ensembles in competition and they are all HUGE names. The Mid-East Power Regional revisits the tension between Rhythm X and Music City Mystique — MCM was the reigning champion coming in from World Championships, and in the Dayton Regional earlier this season, Rhythm X unseated MCM with a 83.9 to their 82.35. The crowd reaction said it all. We'll see United, Equinox, Cap City, and Gateway also all come into this space. Independent Open is also gonna be chock-full of talent: ConneXus, Freedom Percussion, INov8, Motor City, and Tates Creek Indoor are all making an appearance. If you're into drums, this is not an event to pass up.

2018 WGI Percussion/Winds West Power Regional — San Bernardino, CA & Grand Terrace, CA

You know what they say about West Coast drums. This lineup is tight, across both Scholastic and Independent. 78 ensembles will be performing, with mini-rivalries across classes: Arcadia, Ayala, Chino Hills, and Etiwanda will be duking it out in World Class; Broken City, POW, Pulse and RCC are here to fight in Independent World. Like we said: it's gonna be brutal.
