Christmas is one week away and the marching arts community is buzzing with holiday spirit, wintry weather, and busy rehearsal weekends! Here's your recap of some announcements from around the marching arts this past weekend that may have flown under your radar.

Bluecoats Announce Timpani Opening

On Saturday morning, the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps announced an immediate opening for a timpanist. They are calling for all interested applicants to send a video via Acceptd, a third-party application service.

The prompt calls for a video demonstrating the following:

1. "Perform the F Major, Bb Major, and Eb Major scales and related arpeggios, one octave in quarter notes, at 60 bpm."

2. "Perform a solo, etude, or music excerpt, minimum one minute, maximum two minutes, demonstrating your technique and musicality."


MCDC Releases December Camp Highlights

Drum Corps International's newest World Class ensemble, Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, has released a highlight reel of clips from their Dec. 8-10 audition camp including an interview with executive director Kent Baker.

The corps boasts over 300 performers in attendance despite inclement weather keeping some participants from making the trip to Nashville, TN.


Katy Band Makes The Most Out UIL Playoffs

While much of the country is seeing snow by now, one band from Katy, Texas, is making the most out of a rainy playoff game to wrap up its 2017 football season! Katy Magazine, a local publication near Houston, posted a video of the Katy High School band treating fans to a trash can-based performance, rain jackets and all!
