Some corps like to hold out until the spring or even their first performance in June to release their shows, but first on the calendar this year to release its show is Pioneer!

In a rather undramatic fashion, our favorite Irish drum and bugle corps has updated the news section of its website with a cheerful holiday message atop a very brief show release announcement revealing its 2018 production, "Irish Dragons."

As is tradition, Pioneer strives each year to include Ireland in its show theme, and this year, from the mind of Dave Campbell and the rest of the design staff, the corps has done it again.

Although the information given in the release is minimal, fans can expect "vivid colorful props along with a partial uniform change to accentuate very early Irish history." The corps also promises fans "a highly entertaining and crowd-pleasing production."

In the release, Pioneer also announced the addition of an audio engineer role, to be filled by Robert McCowan.

Further down the page, there is a message headlined with the question, "What Makes It So Hard To Recruit New Members?" This is followed by a detailed explanation of what makes the perfect member of the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps.

Later in this message, Pioneer lists a goal of filling all 150 spots in the corps. As a way to encourage this goal, Pioneer is offering each of its members $100 off of dues if he or she recruits a new member who earns a spot in the 2018 corps.

This can be a really great opportunity for members who are short on money to bring along some friends who want to make the leap of marching in a World Class drum and bugle corps. Pioneer's next audition takes place at Butler University on Dec. 16 in Indianapolis — you can visit the Facebook event here!
