Carmel Joins West Coast Bands In Los Angeles
Coming off their recent victory at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Carmel (IN) Marching Greyhounds are making the long trek from Indianapolis to Los Angeles to compete in the Bands of America Southern California Regional this weekend.

However, Carmel is not the only out-of-state band that is joining the California-heavy field, which includes Vista Murrieta (CA) and Ayala (CA). Representatives from a few other states out West such as Nevada and Arizona will also be present at Saturday's regional.

Let's take a closer look at what some of these bands are bringing to the table for their first Bands of America competition in 2017!

12:30 PM PDT - Upland (CA)

The Upland Highland Regiment are making their 2017 Bands of America debut this weekend and performing their show "Between The Lines." This band is a frequent visitor of Bands of America events and has four Regional Championship titles under its belt going into the 2017 season.

Earlier this season, the two-time Bands of America Grand National semifinalists competed in the Western Band Association (WBA) and earned fourth in their class, just behind Chino Hills, Ayala, and Vista Murrieta -- two of which we will see this weekend in Downey, CA.

1:30 PM PDT - Ayala (CA)

One big name in the Winter Guard International (WGI) scene that is impossible to ignore is Ayala. This band, which boasts nine Regional Championships, has made a name for itself in having an incredible indoor drumline and winter guard in particular, but the talent level of the two-time BOA Grand National finalists is some of the best you'll see on the West Coast.

Their show this year is titled "A Night With India" and has four movements, starting with "Feet In The Sand," then "Sunset," followed by "Speaking In Tongues," and finally "Goodbye."

2:45 PM PDT - Vista Murrieta (CA)

After winning last year's regional title, the Vista Murrieta marching band finishes up the preliminary portion of the Southern California Regional. In its visit to Indianapolis for the 2016 BOA Grand National Championships, the band earned 14th, right at the benchmark to make it to the finals.

Vista Murrieta's show this season is entitled "Celebration of the Young Ones" and uses the music of Mozart, Leonard Cohen, and Jim Wunderlich.
