What To Watch For At WGI Power Regionals, Week 8
The 2017 WGI Sport of the Arts season is hitting its home stretch, and this weekend is packing a full slate of six Power Regional events from coast to coast. With so many performances taking place and so much on the line, here's a look at some of the best storylines heading into each show.

WGI EAST PERCUSSION/WINDS POWER REGIONAL

When: March 25-26 | Where: Toms River, New Jersey
In the Percussion Independent World Class, George Mason University made a strong statement at last weekend's WGI Richmond Regional with a score of 86.300. With another PIW group, United Percussion, set to perform this weekend at Pine Belt Arena, will GMU improve on a score that has it sitting fourth overall right now?

WGI SOUTHEAST COLOR GUARD POWER REGIONAL

When: March 25-26 | Where: Orlando, Florida
Orlando's CFE Arena is welcoming one of the top groups in Scholastic World at this weekend's Power Regional. Indiana's Carmel High School is making the long trek south to perform alongside reigning Scholastic World champion Tarpon Springs High School. Also performing is First Flight, which is gaining headlines for its use of the famous "America is not the greatest country in the world" speech from the HBO show "The Newsroom."

Carmel H.S. heads south to Florida for the Southeast Power Regional.

WGI MID-EAST PERCUSSION/WINDS POWER REGIONAL

When: March 25-26 | Where: Highland Heights, Kentucky
One of the largest gatherings of Independent World drumlines in the 2017 season is going down this weekend in Kentucky. With a total of eight PIW ensembles, it's sure to be rocking in the Bluegrass State. Watch out for Rhythm X, which popped an 88.850 the last time it performed. Will the Dayton, Ohio, ensemble break the 90-point barrier this weekend?

WGI MID-SOUTH COLOR GUARD POWER REGIONAL

When: March 25-26 | Where: Bowling Green, KY
Pride of Cincinnati, Onyx, Paramount, and Juxtaposition headline this lineup. With Pride sitting first overall, Onyx in second, Paramount in seventh, and Juxtapostion in ninth place in the World Class standings, this should be a pivotal show with regard to placement heading into the World Championships in Dayton.

WGI WEST PERCUSSION/WINDS POWER REGIONAL

When: March 25-26 | Where: San Bernardino, California
The West Coast is set to rock all weekend long with an unbelievable lineup. In 2016, the Scholastic World Class saw an unprecedented collection at the top with Ayala High School, Chino Hills High School, and Arcadia High School finishing 1-2-3 respectively. In Independent World, the groups from SoCal followed suit. Pulse, RCC, and Broken City finished 1-2-3 last year as well. ALL of these ensembles will be competing this weekend at this massive showcase of talent.

Las Vegas will get a lot brighter when all of this color guard talent arrives to perform. You will get to see seven ensembles currently sitting in the top 16 of the Independent World class, including fourth-place Imbue and the WGI Southwest Color Guard Power Regional IW champion CGT-Dallas. WGI hit the jackpot with this schedule.
