Across the country, numbers written on performers' arms and legs in ink count down the remaining days as age-outs relish the last moments of their Open or World Class drum corps careers.

That drop from double-digits to single-digits stung. Now, that number can be counted on just one hand.

For fans, the opposite effect. A countdown turning into a timer that at the end holds a very precious treasure: the most elite marching arts performances that this world has to offer.

Here's where every 2026 DCI World Class corps stands heading into the World Championships.

What To Know About Every 2026 DCI World Class Corps

We're going to do this in alphabetical order to keep things easy to navigate.

2026 Blue Devils "ZEI"

The Blue Devils don't often find themselves entering the season after finishing outside of a medalist spot. In 2026, they've surged back into the conversation at the top of the charts with their show "ZEI," a reinterpretation of Icarus's story.

The Concord corps had three strong weekends in San Antonio, Atlanta, and Allentown in second behind the Bluecoats. Through changing the ending, enhancing transitions, and making slight musical changes, they have found ways to keep pushing their score up in order to stay out ahead of Carolina Crown and Boston Crusaders. Less than a point separated the three corps in Atlanta on Saturday, July 25.

They will meet all in one place again at the Bluecoats' home turf at 2026 Innovations in Brass, streaming live on Monday, August 3 before they turn their attention to Indianapolis.

2026 Blue Knights "The Sky Between"

After clearing the bar for the last spot in 2025 DCI Finals, the Blue Knights are looking to make it a pair after a few seasons in and out of the Saturday show.

Their show "The Sky Between" features one of the first flute solos in DCI history, emphasizing the cloudy, ethereal vibe that the Colorado corps does so well.

If they hope to hold their spot and perform on Saturday, they'll need to stay ahead of corps like Spirit of Atlanta, Madison Scouts, and Pacific Crest as the season winds down.

2026 Blue Stars "Collection '26: The Galleries"

After finishing 8th in 2025, it looks like the La Crosse, WI corps may be primed for a historic finish—perhaps their best ever since joining DCI's World Class.

The Blue Stars are having a breakout summer with the corps finding huge growth in the early part of the 2026 season that has sustained. Their brass section in particular has been at the top, executing a very difficult yet incredibly musical book in "Collection '26: The Galleries" at an elite level.

In Atlanta, the brass topped the reigning champion and Jim Ott Best Brass Award title holders Boston Crusaders and were just a few tenths of a point behind the Blue Devils brass.

The corps tied Phantom Regiment at DCI McKinney just after DCI San Antonio on July 20—a race that has stayed tight since, setting up a potential battle for the last spot in the top six in Indianapolis.

2026 Bluecoats "Gravity & Grace"

The Bluecoats have been unstoppable all season long. Since debuting their show at the Bluecoats Opening Night, the corps has been performing and improving "Gravity & Grace" with the skill of a championship dynasty-level drum and bugle corps. 

They opened the season with record-high scores and have kept pushing the boundaries, holding a slight edge on their 2024 pace which set the organization's highest score at 98.750 in Finals.

The corps has been in first at every major event, most of which included sweeps of all of the captions. It has been hard for judges to find a weakness in this corps. 

However, the Blue Devils and Carolina Crown have closed the gap recently. The Blue Devils took the color guard caption at NightBEAT and Carolina Crown won brass in Atlanta.

In Allentown, Bluecoats swept all sub-captions against the Blue Devils in close quarters on Friday so the head-to-head comparison with Carolina Crown, Boston Crusaders, and Santa Clara Vanguard will have to wait until Monday's Innovations in Brass, the final Bluecoats home show of the season.

Bluecoats' 96.825 at J. Birney Crum matched the score of the record-setting 2014 Blue Devils before they earned a 99.65 a week later.

2026 Boston Crusaders "Blurred Lines"

Our reigning DCI World Champions and first-time Founders Trophy winners have been in the medalist conversation every step of the way in 2026.

The corps with the biggest challenge this season, Boston Crusaders have to live up to the expectations of their highest score in history happening less than a year ago, fresh in the minds of fans.

Their show "Blurred Lines" continues to display the elite level of talent that has become standard at the historic drum corps with the percussion section, last year's Fred Sanford Best Percussion Award winners, leading the charge. They took top marks in Atlanta, just edging out Bluecoats by .050 in the sub-caption.

It's a toss up for 2nd through 5th place this week and the Boston Crusaders are in the middle of it.

Follow along as they reach for a possible 4th DCI World Championship medal in five years.

2026 Carolina Crown "The Doors of Perception"

Carolina Crown is another corps that is having a great season. After a 5th place finish in 2025, the corps out of South Carolina was left searching for more and it seems they have found it somewhere between San Antonio and Atlanta with their show "The Doors of Perception."

The corps improved their score from a 90.425 on July 18 in San Antonio, TX to a sky-high 94.700 in Salem, VA on July 29. 

They were within a half a point of the Blue Devils on back-to-back nights in Murfreesboro, TN and Atlanta, GA, putting them squarely in the center of the conversation for a possible medal come Indianapolis.

After winning night two in Allentown against Boston Crusaders and Santa Clara Vanguard, things are set up nicely for the corps as they step through the doorway into the final days of the season. Can they stay ahead, though?

2026 Colts "An American Experiment"

The Colts show "An American Experiment" has been a success story this season for the Dubuque, IA corps.

Finishing just inside the Finals cutoff in 2025, the corps is in the middle of its most successful multi-year stretch in corps history. Their 88.000 at NightBEAT already puts them on par with their Finals score of 88.050 last season. 

The Colts are well on track to break their highest score from 2023, during which they hit the 88-point mark on August 5 in Allentown.

2026 Crossmen "A Side / B Side"

After a year to forget for the Crossmen in 2025, they are back with a purpose and bringing the sights and sounds that fans recognize and love about the San Antonio (Allentown) corps.

"A Side / B Side" has been just what fans were looking for, opening the door for the corps to bring back nostalgic hits mixed with more contemporary music merge those with talent across all sections of the cast.

If you're a fan of trombones, this is a must-watch show as they round the corner towards Indianapolis sitting in prime position to get back to performing later on in that Friday block if they can keep improving.

2026 Genesis "AbstRacT"

Genesis's 2026 show "AbstRacT" has been entertaining fans across the country as the corps has journeyed along.

First transitioning to World Class in 2017, Genesis is rounding out its first decade in DCI.

They opened their summer tour out West at the Drums Along the Rockies show before traveling eastward all the way through Wisconsin. Then, they made the long trip south to Texas where they performed for home state crowds in Killeen, Houston, and San Antonio.

After performing at DeKalb, they spent the week on the road towards Allentown with a few rehearsal days mixed in. They'll be looking to close the gap on Seattle Cascades and hold their spot in the top 25 to make it to Friday's World Championship Semifinals next week.

2026 Madison Scouts "MadiSpin"

The Madison Scouts are another corps to watch this season with a show that's entertaining, nostalgic, and yet does a good job incorporating contemporary elements into their design package.

"MadiSpin" provides an easy vehicle for a variety of tunes from an exceptional brass section that has been vaulting them deeper into the finalist conversation as Spirit of Atlanta and Pacific Crest have climbed.

Pacific Crest came out a point ahead of the Scouts in Allentown but we'll have to wait until Thursday to see Spirit of Atlanta and Blue Knights scored by the same panel.

2026 Mandarins

If you've been under a rock, Mandarins took a hiatus this season for financial reasons. The corps announced they would return in 2027. More information can be found here.

Prior to the 2026 season, they were in the midst of their most successful competitive stretch in the organization's history.

2026 Music City "Venomorphosis"

This season for Music City is turning out to be one of the best seasons in the corps' short history. After joining World Class in 2018, they have been climbing the ranks of World Class corps and pushing their scores up through the low-80s. 

It looks like they may push the bar even higher after earning an 83.300 at DCI Pittsburgh on August 1.

The middle Tennessee corps will see two corps they've been rubbing elbows with recently, Crossmen and The Academy, at Innovations In Brass for a last chance to get in judge feedback before heading to Indianapolis for DCI World Championship prelims.

2026 Pacific Crest "Irresistible"

Pacific Crest is looking like they may make finals for the first time in the corps' short history. With an 86.000, they are just a few tenths short of their highest score ever, earned in 2024 when they finished 13th, just outside of DCI Finals.

The corps improved exponentially in the first few weeks of the season as they wowed judges across the West coast. By the time they made it to San Antonio, Texas, they were in 13th again and just a few tenths behind Madison Scouts in 12th.

Then, in Madison, WI on July 24, the home-team's nightmare happened and Pacific Crest passed them with a sizable gap of .650. 

The Industry, CA group's production "Irresistible" may have the wings to fly them to Saturday's show.

2026 Phantom Regiment "Bloodline"

With the alumni corps joining the fun on the road to end this season, Phantom Regiment and their 2026 show "Bloodline" is a must-watch for many reasons.

The Rockford, IL corps has been going back and forth with Blue Stars—a battle of two historic DCI finalist corps that have been in the same neighborhood for nearly two decades. Phantom has also managed to close the gap to the Santa Clara Vanguard to just a point and a half, a corps that they finished three spots lower than in the 2025 finals and were separated by 2.400.

If you're looking for a show filled with aggression, passion, and in-your-face drum corps you don't have to look further than Phantom Regiment 2026.

2026 Santa Clara Vanguard "With Reckless Abandon"

Just two years after their hiatus, Santa Clara Vanguard is back chopping it up in the top five like they were never gone. The percussion section, led by Sandi and Paul Rennick, continue to be an immovable object in the top echelon of percussion writing and instruction in the marching arts.

After finishing with a bronze in 2025, it's looking like they are on a bit of a scoring island between 4th and 6th place but anything can change in the last week of the season.

Although the brass and color guard are nothing to scoff at, the JONZ, a nickname for members of SCV's battery and pit, are the main spectacle on and off the field (in the lot) for the California corps.

SCV has taken the Fred Sanford high percussion award five times in the last decade and that's even with two non-competitive seasons. Could 2026 be their next? Bluecoats may have something to say about that.

On the field, jumping ropes in the form of chains take the focus with their show "With Reckless Abandon." The corps brought in professional, World Champion-level jump-roping athletes to train the corps on the visual aspects of the show.

2026 Seattle Cascades "Against The Grain"

Just a week after earning their highest score in 17 years, the Seattle Cascades are ready to bring their show "Against The Grain" to fans at Lucas Oil Stadium. Their show features the music of Nirvana mixed with Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky and embodies all of the grit and grunge you'd expect from the PNW corps.

Expect Cascades to get the crowd going early in the day at DCI World Championships as they wrap up an incredible 2026 season.

Cascades, Genesis, and Spartans have been battling it out since San Antonio where they were within 1.300 of each other.

2026 Spartans "On The World Stage"

In their first season as a full-fledged World Class corps, Spartans have held nothing back with their show "On The World Stage" on the 2026 DCI summer tour that began for them in the Midwest on July 10.

After being the Open Class champion for the third year in a row and attending Open Class Prelims and Finals every year since 2010, Spartans now start their World Championships week differently, including an extra day of rehearsal when they would have otherwise been at Open Class finals.

2026 Spirit of Atlanta "Golden Summer"

Spirit of Atlanta could make finals for the first time since 2013 this season with their show "Golden Summer." The show starts with "School's Out" by Alice Cooper and performers make their way through the season with tunes like Vivaldi's "Summer Mvt. III" and even "Feelin' Good" by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley.

On the scoresheets, they recently passed Blue Knights on night one in Allentown, one of the corps they will have to beat if they want to be in Finals on Saturday. If they can also stay ahead of Pacific Crest and Madison Scouts, it's all but guaranteed.

The corps earned an 87.550, one of their highest scores in decades at DCI Pittsburgh on Saturday, August 1, beating their 2025 semifinals score of 86.800.

The Academy's show "In The Center of the Ring" is their version of bringing the circus to DCI.

The corps out of Arizona has spent much of the season chasing down Crossmen, battling with Music City, and staying ahead of the Spartans—another show that used source music from The Greatest Showman.

2026 The Cavaliers "The Lost Boys"

As one of the oldest corps on the field today, The Cavaliers are still one to watch with their latest production "The Lost Boys."

The all-male corps out of Rosemont, IL has a chance to fight for 7th against the Blue Stars but it seems unlikely that they will have to worry about the Colts and other potential finalist corps with more than two points between them.

The Cavaliers percussion continues to be a focal point for the corps, finishing 3rd on Friday in Allentown ahead of Phantom Regiment and Carolina Crown.

2026 Troopers "Into Darkness"

Troopers' Apocalypse Now themed show "Into Darkness" debuted on opening night at 2026 Drums Along the Rockies where they started with a small but growing gap over the other Rocky Mountain corps, Blue Knights.

In San Antonio, that growing gap was up-ended, though, and the Blue Knights surged to tenth ahead of Troopers, just .013 behind Colts in 9th.

Since then, things have opened up a bit. In Allentown, the Colts were a full point ahead while Spirit of Atlanta trailed by 1.475. Stay tuned as Troopers make their final push to the 2026 season's conclusion.
