Santa Clara Vanguard Showcase - June 27
In a brand-new partnership with FloMarching, Santa Clara Vanguard and The Columbians both made their world debut of their DCI 2025 programs at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. Santa Clara Vanguard presented their program titled, 'THE aVANtGUARD" alongside The Columbians with their program 'Bloom' for a crowd of enthusiastic drum corps fans. While this event was unscored, it allowed fans to catch a glimpse at these shows and wait with bated breath until the pair make their first scored public performances in the coming days.
If you're hoping to catch a show by Vanguard, you'll want to tune into the Northwest Youth Music Games Portland (July 3) and DCI West (July 6) to see SCV take on other West Coast favorites, including Mandarins, Blue Knights, and the Blue Devils.
The Columbians will also be at the Northwest Youth Music Games in Portland on July 3rd, but won't make another appearance on Flo until the Midwest Classic on July 26th.
DCI Tour Preview - June 27
Though the DCI Tour Preview in Muncie, IN wasn't a scored event this season, that didn't stop fans from voraciously devouring the on-field performance (and the social content later put out) by the three participating corps: The Cavaliers, Carolina Crown, and Phantom Regiment.
The trio of ensembles performed their 2025 programs in addition to encore tunes and show chunks throughout their allotted 30-minute time slot. Check out some of our favorite moments from the evening below:
Bluecoats Opening Night Community Celebration - June 28
The hotly anticipated start to the Bluecoats' 2025 season was nothing short of spectacular. A handful of Ohio-based World Class, All-Age, and SoundSport ensembles met up at the University of Mount Union to kick up the heat a few notches.
While this wasn't a scored event, the combined 2025 debut of five corps sparked frenzy online, especially since the Bluecoats announced their program title, 'The Observer Effect,' just hours before they took the field for their world premiere.
Columbis Saints, Rogues Hollow Regiment, Cincinnati Tradition, Rhythm IN BLUE, and The Bluecoats all made magic on the field, and we cannot wait to see the corps make their first scored debuts over the coming days. Here's where you can next see a streamed performance of these ensembles:
- Columbus Saints - The Whitewater Classic on July 5
- Rogues Hollow Regiment - DCI All-Age Championship Prelims on August 8
- Cincinnati Tradition - DCI Northern Ohio on July 23
- Rhythm IN BLUE - Innovations In Brass on August 4
- Bluecoats - The Whitewater Classic on July 5
Drums Along the Rockies - June 28
Our first official scored competition of the 2025 season was an exciting one. Not only were fans packed into Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, CO, cheering as loudly as they could, but we also got our first big matchup of the season: Blue Devils vs Boston Crusaders.
As Boston makes its way through its 2025 West Coast Tour, the Massachusetts-based ensemble will take on a slew of West Coast favorites over the next few weeks.
Circling back to what happened at Drums Along the Rockies, here's a breakdown of the scores from the evening:
World Class | ||
1 | Boston Crusaders | 76.200 |
2 | Blue Devils | 75.400 |
3 | Colts | 68.250 |
4 | Troopers | 67.750 |
5 | Blue Knights | 65.950 |
Where things get interesting, however, is when we look at the full recap.
Picking up where they left off last year, the Blue Devils and Boston Crusaders fought for footholds in each caption, with razor-thin margins in General Effect, Visual, and Music. While there was some disagreement between judges as to which corps should have received first and second, Boston ended up sweeping each caption, with their stand-out score in Percussion helping secure the dub.
Troopers also had a fantastic night in the Music caption, achieving straight 3rd place placements in Music Analysis and Percussion. While those scores weren't enough to overpower the Colts for third place overall, fans should keep an eye on Troopers to see what they do over the coming weeks.
Barnum Festival: Champions on Parade - June 28
While the Barnum Festival wasn't a Flo streamed event, let's take a look at what the start of the All-Age season looked like.
Five All-Age ensembles made their debut in Shelton, CT, with some absolutely massive first-week scores being achieved right out of the gate.
The back-to-back (x6) All-Age World Class champion, the Reading Buccaneers, absolutely threw down and secured a first-place victory with thier 2025 program titled, 'On Display,' and achieved the first 80+ point score of the 2025 season. Wowza.
Hot on their heels, the Hawthorne Caballeros and Bushwackers secured second and third-place finishes, respectively, with the Hurricanes closing out the World Class All-Age distinction.
In the Open Class All-Age distinction, the Sunrisers made their 2025 debut with their program titled 'Move,' which earned a 66.700.
