Bands of America Takes Over Georgia Dome
Everything gets started for the last triple header weekend of the season at the USMC Bands of America Atlanta Super Regional, presented by Yamaha on Saturday. It will be the lone super regional event backed by the St. George and Long Beach Regionals. In other words, Bands of America has your Saturday completely packed with performances from coast to coast.

Atlanta Super Regional


Morning Block 1

(All times are EST)
Harrison H.S. - 7:15 AM
The Harrison H.S. marching band is a 19-time BOA Regional finalist, six-time BOA Regional champion, three-time BOA Grand National finalist, and a two-time BOA Grand National class champion. The band will be in the 2016 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Harrison is also a Sudler Flag of Honor Program.

Mill Creek H.S. - 8:30 AM
The Pride of Mill Creek marching band is a five-time Bands of America Regional and Super Regional finalist and a two-time BOA Regional class AAAA champion. The Mill Creek wind ensemble will perform at this year's Georgia Music Educators Association Conference and at the Music for All Southeastern Regional Concert Band Festival at Georgia State University.


Morning Block 2

Dobyns-Bennett H.S. - 10:15 AM
The Dobyns-Bennett band has a tradition of excellence going back more than 85 years. It has appeared in three Tournament of Roses Parades, five Macy's Parades, and the Presidential Inaugural Parade. The band has been a BOA Regional champion four times and a Grand Nationals semifinalist every time it has attended. Dobyns-Bennett's symphonic band has played at the prestigious Midwest Clinic twice and is one of only 15 schools nationally to have been awarded both the Sudler Flag and Shield by the JP Sousa Foundation. The Dobyns-Bennett band won the 2016 Bands of America Winston-Salem Regional earlier this season.

James F. Byrnes H.S. - 11:15 AM
The James F. Byrnes Band program offers a variety of performance opportunities including four concert bands, two jazz ensembles, three winterguards, numerous small ensembles, and a 216-member marching band. The symphonic band has earned consistent superior ratings in state and regional events. The marching band has won 10 SCBDA state championships, 18 SCBDA upper state championships, and one BOA Regional Championship. They have been a region class champion, national semifinalist. The Byrnes band won the Class 4A championship at the Winston-Salem regional earlier this season and finished second overall.


Afternoon Block 1

East Coweta H.S. - 1:15 PM
The Marching Indians have been a BOA Regional finalist the past six years, being named regional class champions in 2010, 2013, and 2015. The Marching Indians have represented East Coweta High School in multiple international parades, including two times in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The East Coweta winter guard is a 2015 Scholastic A Class WGI National finalist and a 2016 Scholastic Open Class WGI National finalist.

Franklin H.S. - 2:15 PM
A five-time Tennessee Marching Band champion, the Franklin band is a past BOA Regional champion and three-time Class AAA national runner-up. The Franklin percussion ensemble has been invited to perform at the 2017 Music for All National Festival this coming March, and the Franklin wind ensemble will perform at the Tennessee Music Education Association Conference in April. Franklin is a 2014 recipient of the John Philip Sousa Foundation's Sudler Shield.


Afternoon Block 2

Walton H.S. - 4:30 PM
The Walton High School marching band is under the direction of Mike Back, with assistance from John Palmer. The Walton band has been a finalist numerous times at Bands of America Regional competitions in St. Louis, Tampa, and Atlanta. In 2006 and 2012, the band was a semifinalist at the Bands of America Grand National Championships. The Walton band is a recipient of the Sudler Shield, and it has performed three times in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.

Tarpon Springs H.S. - 4:45 PM
The Tarpon Springs marching band was the 2014 BOA Grand National champion and has been awarded BOA National class champions seven times and BOA Regional class champions 21 times. In 2013 the band participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Tarpon Springs Color Guard was awarded the WGI Scholastic World Champions in both 2016 and 2014. The band is a Sudler Shield recipient and in 2016 was awarded the National Association for Music Education "National Blue Ribbon Award for Program Excellence.".
