My Advice: Don't Seek Perfection

As a rookie, I am constantly learning every weekend. At STRYKE, we have lots of conversations about technique, performance, and much more. I get so much new information, it’s almost hard to keep track of all the details. We have notebooks for us to write down any useful tips so we don’t forget. The best piece of advice I can give to anyone joining a new ensemble is to be flexible and absorb as much as you can. You don’t have to be perfect (believe me, I’m far from it) but as long as you’re willing to work with the team, everyone from staff to vets will help you!

Presenting STRYKE's 2022 Production...

Our 2022 program is titled Day In, Day Out. For a lot of us, we live our lives like a cycle. Wake up, go to work/school/wherever, go to sleep, repeat. We explore that cycle, but we also ask, “If you could do it all again, how would you do it differently?” The concept is open for anyone’s interpretation but in my eyes, you don’t have to throw away your current life to find happiness. Perhaps there are little things you can do to make your day-to-day life better. Maybe a shift in mindset or attitude is all a person needs to see the joy in their lives. Or maybe I’m wrong, yes, take that risk, just go for it, live life with no regrets! Nonetheless, we’re calling the audience to make that change to live a more fulfilling life.

As Dayton gets closer, we have a lot of work to do to get the show where we need it to be. Until next time!
