In memory of all those who have fallen in the line of duty, this Memorial Day, we look back at a DCI show that recognized one of the most tragic days in U.S. history.
For a section of the 2009 production called The Factory, the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps provided us with a very intense rendition surrounding the surprise attack by Japanese forces on Pearl Harbor.
Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941, at 7:48am local time, a massive fleet of 353 Japanese planes began dropping bombs, torpedoes, and gunfire on the men and women stationed at the Pearl Harbor naval base in Hawaii.
Four of the eight battleships that were docked at Pearl Harbor were sunk. Another eight ships were damaged and/or sunk during the attack. Over 180 U.S. planes were destroyed as well.
2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 others were wounded as a result.
The surprise attack launched the United States into World War II.
