In one of four Bands of America regionals this weekend, 18 bands are converging on Jacksonville, AL, to vie for the title of best in the South.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, the 2017 BOA Alabama Regional Championship, presented by Yamaha, gets underway at Burgess-Snow Field with preliminaries at 10:15 AM (CDT).

Let's take a closer look at the stacked field.

LASSITER (GA)

The Lassiter High School band is a 10-time Bands of America Regional champion and two-time Bands of America Grand Nationals champion. Lassiter's color guard has also won WGI Scholastic "A" and Scholastic Open Championships. The program has consistently earned superior ratings in both the marching and concert fields. For their 2017 production, "The Most of our Time," Lassiter will be performing selections from "Allegro from Symphony No. 10 in E Minor" by Dimitri Shostakovich, "Rhapsody On a Theme" By Paganini, "Var. 18" by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky.

HARRISON (GA)

The 2013 and 2015 BOA Grand National class 3A champions, Harrison are always a band to keep your eye on. Having already won the 2017 BOA Powder Springs Regional, Harrison will certainly be contenders. Look for Harrison to have a much more completed program since we last saw them in Georgia. Their show entitled, "Sacred Circle," explores the music of Stravinsky, including "The Rite of Spring" and "Firebird Suite."

Harrison director Josh Ray discusses his band's win at the 2017 Powder Springs Regional.

NATION FORD (SC)

Nation Ford High School opened in the fall of 2007 and has since won six South Carolina state marching band championships. In 2011, the band performed in the prestigious Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and will return to the parade this November. In the fall of 2012 the band placed third in class AA at the BOA Grand National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. In 2016, Nation Ford won their first Bands of America Regional Championship in Jacksonville, AL. Watch for Nation Ford to unveil their show, "All That Glitters," on Saturday at 4 PM (CDT).
