Phantom's Guard Open To Male Performers For 2018

During the fall of 2017, Phantom Regiment will allow male performers to audition for their color guard to be fielded in the summer of 2018.
Affectionately known as "Phantomettes," the Phantom Regiment color guard was one of the few remaining gender-specific casts left in the drum corps community. There's is no need to be worried though if you're a fan of the tradition associated with the all-female guard. The corps has swapped between being co-ed and all-female before, depending upon the show concept for that season. Read up more on the history of the Phantom Regiment color guard on their website.
In 2005, Phantom Regiment's production "Rhapsody" featured one male guard member who took center stage throughout a majority of the jazz-filled show. The production also featured an impressive tap dance solo, which required actual tap shoes to be played like instruments in the front ensemble considering the obvious issues associated with trying to tap dance on turf/grass.
A year later, their next show "Faust" took the audience on a journey through Faust's perspective of his pact with the Devil. Faust's story relies on the trading of his soul for whatever worldly desires and unlimited knowledge he wishes. The show featured five, dark-uniformed male guard members who acted as a unit throughout the whole show -- plus one more standing in as Faust's character.
From 2007 to 2010 the color guard was fully co-ed for its shows "On Air," "Spartacus," "The Red Violin," and "Into the Light." Phantom Regiment then returned to an all-female lineup in 2011. If you're a male performer who's wanted to be in Phantom Regiment color guard but haven't been able to, now's your chance! Check out their color guard auditions on November 17-19 in Rockford, IL, or visit Phantom Regiment's website for all dates and information!
