FREE Players Drum Corps Stands In Support Of Phantom Regiment
The FREE Players Drum Corps went out of their way to send a video to Phantom Regiment showing an outpouring of support and love - one of those things that make this activity so incredible and so unique.
The FREE Players Drum Corps has gone out of its way to record a video in support of Phantom Regiment, whose staff and volunteers were involved in a rollover bus crash earlier this week that killed the driver and injured eight passengers at the Arizona-California border.
Donna M. Howard, the 55-year-old woman the corps hired to drive the bus, died at the scene early Monday. Eight of the 13 passengers on board -- none of whom were performers -- were transported to hospital and have since been released.
As news of the tragedy spread, the entire marching community showed its support in a variety of ways, including sharing condolences on social media. Even other drum corps such as The Academy sent a group of their volunteers to help feed Phantom Regiment's members and staff as well as take care of the numerous daily tasks that are the backbone of the activity.
On Wednesday, the FREE Players posted a video on their Facebook page to show their love for their fellow corps -- one of those things that makes this community so incredible.
FREE Players Drum Corps is a differently-abled group of musicians out of New York, consisting of 65 members split between the corps' color guard, percussion, and front ensemble sections. The corps performed for the first time on the 2015 Drum Corps International Tour at Allentown, Pennsylvania, and is currently raising money to travel to Indianapolis and perform 2018 Drum Corps International World Championships.
If you'd like to take part in getting these incredible performers and advocates for our activity to Lucas Oil Stadium, you can contribute via their GoFundMe page which is now a year in the making.
