On this 4th of July, we will be LIVE blogging the performances of the corps from Lynn, MA at The Beanpot Invitational

SCHEDULE OF PERFORMANCES

All times local venue and subject to change.

7:00 p.m. - Welcome & National Anthem

7:10 p.m. - The Muchachos - Manchester, NH

This is one the reasons why the marching arts has such a passionate following. The fact that performers still gather together on the weekends to put together a performance shows the passion of these musicians.

7:27 p.m. - Genesis - Austin, TX

The newest addition to Drum Corps International's World Class did not disappoint this evening in Lynn! Sprinkled with impressive soloists, this hornline is filled to the brim with talent. Their 2017 production is filled with easily recognizable pieces like "Pure Imagination" and "Hide and Seek." Genesis is starting the 2017 competitive season strong with their visual technique, already performing their drill at an impressively high level.

7:44 p.m. - Spirit of Atlanta - Atlanta, GA

Spirit of Atlanta comes out with a very fresh look on things with their new uniforms. Love the opening hurricane-like drill that leads into their first impact. The contrast in colors from their uniforms when they face backfield is very noticeable. The speed of the drill when performers go into double-time gives the show moments of high velocity in contrast against the regular-time feet. The functionality of the guard uniforms to be able to pull off the drastic colors changes shows great design. The percussion is showing a great deal of improvement against previous years.

8:01 p.m. - Jersey Surf - Camden County, NJ

Performing their 2017 show, "Make It Our Own" for the first time online for the FloMarching audience, Jersey Surf definitely came ready to impress tonight under the beautiful sunset. Starting their show off with "Shofukan" by Snarky Puppy, a muted trumpet/trombone trio took us into jazz-land. Paired with quickly moving drill, the corps really lets loose with this awesome tune. The rest of their show really draws in the crowd and gives them something to enjoy right out of the gates.

8:18 p.m. - Intermission

We'll now head into an intermission until 8:43pm (EDT) a little longer than initially planned but we'll keep you updated!

8:43 p.m. - Colts - Dubuque, IA

The Colts are debuting some great new uniforms. The brain-like prop in the center of the field shows the two hemispheres of the brain at work. The logical left side vs the creative right side. The color guard is having a great show tonight. The flight of equipment during tosses is very readable. The ballad has a great flag moment with integration of color schemes representing either side of the brain.

9:00 p.m. - Crossmen - San Antonio, TX

Crossmen have come a long way since their last show in the DCI Tour Premiere. With the color guard in their brand new neon uniforms, they're able to complement the corps' magenta and orange accents in their uniforms and plume. Adorned with fireworks in the night sky above them, this young corps is really drawing the fans into their show, "Enigma," this season. The hornline and percussion sections span the dynamics from piano to forte as they build into the end of the show's second movement, drawing your attention all the way to the front right corner of the field. Their ballad opens up the floodgates on the hornline when it comes to the big hits - paired with a beautiful french horn solo. The closer builds all the way through to the end; and for this time in particular, the ending was paired with an appropriate, perfectly timed *Bang!* from the local fireworks.

9:17 p.m. - The Cadets - Allentown, PA

The Cadets start their show off in a large cross stretching from their stained glass props to the church pews. The priest-like long uniforms are a dramatic departure from the tradition Cadets uniform. The battery is the first to introduce the white uniforms as they come out of the stained glass props. The impact of the trombones from the church pews is unnerving. The percussion continues to gain steam and the bass drum solo was unbelievable. The emotional performance of The Cadets following the drum show great individual investment into the show.

9:34 p.m. - Carolina Crown - Ft. Mill, SC

This corps certainly came out to "wow" the crowd tonight. Carolina Crown's visual program, including the color guard, has been improving and is keeping them well in consideration for the top echelon of the activity. One thing's for certain: these new uniforms really show off the corps' footwork - and they're certainly taking advantage of that. The corps premiered a new prop, front and center on the 50, that raises the ballad's vocalist up into the air above the hornline's beautiful chords. As we follow the corps through the deconstruction of the modern football field, the corps' music truly takes the audience for a trip through their concept even if it may not be obvious at a first look.

9:51 p.m. - North Star - Peabody, MA

There's something about seeing old school drum corps that warms the heart and seeing North Star enter the field does exactly that. Rifle exchanges following the screaming trumpet solo. Thank you to the performers of North Star for building the foundation of what modern drum corps is today.
