Texas’ Pioneer High School Band Rises From Humble Beginnings

Pioneer High's Journey From Humble Beginnings

Known by very few across the state of Texas and less so across the nation, a young band is staking its claim in the Rio Grande Valley. The Pioneer High School band announced to everyone at the Bands of America McAllen Regional last September that it has arrived and is not planning on going away anytime soon. While Pioneer did not win the contest, it did capture the AA division title and a sweep of the caption awards as well. But more surprisingly, the Mission, Texas, band went on to finish second overall that night in finals.

So who is this new program? What is driving them on this amazing upward trajectory? Meet the Diamondbacks, because they are going to make the nation know they are here to stay.

HOT START FOR 2017:

Pioneer High School started the 2017 season with a great performance at the BOA Austin Regional this past weekend. The Diamondbacks won the Class AA Championship along with the award for Outstanding General Effect and Outstanding Music Effect.

You're definitely going to have to keep Pioneer on your radar for the 2017 BOA South Texas Regional in McAllen on Saturday, Sept. 30. The Diamondbacks will be performing at 10:15 AM CDT in preliminary competition.
