ICYMI: Scores Reach Upper 70s As Competition Heats Up In July
July is here. Not only are temperatures increasing, but the scores are progressing at a rate that puts them about 2 points higher than they were by July 1st, last season. Could this mean a higher-scoring Top 3 in August?
July is here. Not only are temperatures increasing, but the scores are progressing at a rate that puts them about 2 points higher than they were by July 1st, last season. Could this mean a higher-scoring Top 3 by the time everyone collides at DCI World Championships in Lucas Oil?
Despite rain forcing DCI Central Indiana indoors on Friday, June 30th, the corps' brass and percussion sections were able to perform their music for a packed house at Ball State University's Worthen Arena. Music for All's Summer Symposium was also a big success despite the camp's participants not being able to perform the drill they learned with Carolina Crown, they still took to center stage and played a few musical selections with the corps' members. Check out the Marching Percussion division's final performance below!
As we look forward to tomorrow, the 4th of July, means whipping out the grill and cooler full of drinks for a day full of red, white and blue - for drum corps and marching bands across the country, it means marching in parades and enjoying the origins of our beloved activity. Drum Corps International has compiled the parades for all of the corps that will be spending their Independence Day sharing music, marching, and the joy of performing with the community.
With shows in California, Wisconsin, and New Jersey, July 2nd brought some interesting scores to the board on Sunday night. Phantom Regiment made dramatic steps improving in the Visual caption to help them climb over Blue Knights for the first time this season. As corps make improvements to their shows and performers perfect their skills, breaking 70 points is a big landmark for many corps. Boston Crusaders broke the 70-point mark this weekend, which they didn't break last season until July 12th. Just short of the 70-point landmark is Blue Stars, with Madison Scouts in hot pursuit - scoring just .3 below the corps from La Crosse on Sunday. Keep up-to-date with all scores as the corps make their way into regional season and meet at some of the biggest venues in the country!
