BOA Plano Offers Showdown in North Texas
In what is sure to be one of the most anticipated Bands of America contests this season, the Plano, Texas regional has an amazing lineup slated for Saturday, October 8.

Regionals in Austin and Conroe had some of the best bands in the Lone Star State going for broke just to make finals. But at the BOA Plano show, there will be a couple of the nation's absolute best going head-to-head.

Morning Block 1

(All times are CST)
L.D. Bell H.S. - 7:45 AM
The L.D. Bell High School marching band is under the direction of Van Mathews with assistance from Chris Harmon, Suzanne Dell, Ben Maughmer, and Wes Cartwright. The Blue Raider Band is a proud participant in the Texas University Interscholastic League, receiving a first-division rating at the marching contest each year since 1959. Since 2000, the band has medaled at BOA and UIL events 38 times, including multiple regional, area, super regional, and national championships.

Wakeland H.S. - 8:45 AM
The Wakeland High School band is a Texas State Marching Contest finalist. Wakeland is a four-time Texas State Honor Band finalist and has participated in multiple Bands of America events, including the National Concert Band Festival and Grand National Competition.


Morning Block 2

Azle H.S. - 10:30 AM
The Marching Green Pride consists of 225 members, and is a consistent state marching band contest participant. Additionally, the band has received many UIL Sweepstakes awards. In BOA competition, they have won several captions including general effect and visual ensemble.The MGP will be participating in multiple contests this year, concluding their season at the Bands of America Super Regional in San Antonio on November 4-5.

Marcus H.S. - 11:30 AM
The Marcus marching band includes over 275 wind, percussion, and color guard members. The band has earned notable ensemble honors, including the 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014 UIL Texas state championships and the 2007, 2010, and 2012 BOA Super Regional championships. The Marcus band appeared as a finalist at the BOA Grand Nationals Championships in 2009 and 2013. Ensembles at Marcus earned the Sudler Flag and Sudler Shield in 2014 and 2008, respectively, awarded by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. 


Afternoon Block 1

Keller H.S. - 1 PM
The Keller Indian Band is a six-time UIL Texas State Marching Band Championship participant, most notably being named as a 6A finalist in 2014. In 2015, the Keller band was named as a finalist at the prestigious BOA Grand National Championships in Indianapolis. Keller High School was honored to be chosen as only one of two bands to receive the 2015 Sudler Shield.

Hebron H.S. - 1:15 PM
The Hebron High School marching band is a consistent Bands of America Regional and Super Regional finalist and champion. The Hebron band has also earned six straight appearances in the Texas UIL State Marching Contest including silver medalist finishes in 2012 and 2014. In the fall of 2015 at the Bands of America Grand National Championships, the Hebron marching band was named the Class 4A champion and earned third place overall in finals competition.


Afternoon Block 2

Keller Central H.S. - 3:15 PM
The Keller Central Band has been a finalist at many BOA Regional shows, an attendee BOA Grand Nationals, and has been named grand champion at local marching festivals. During this time, the band has also advanced to the Texas State Marching Contest. The Keller Central color guard advanced to the Scholastic A finals in the WGI season and was named the NTCA Round 2 champion in the 2016 season. The Keller Central wind ensemble advanced to the 6A state level in the TMEA honor band competition.

Flower Mound H.S. - 4:15 PM
The Flower Mound High School band is comprised of two marching bands, five concert bands, numerous percussion ensembles, and two winter guards. In 2014, the band was named a BOA Grand National finalist at its first appearance in Indianapolis. In 2015, the band was named grand champion at the Arlington Regional and the San Antonio Super Regional. The wind symphony performed at the Midwest Clinic this past December and placed second in the 2016 TMEA Honor Band Competition.
